How Stock Perpetuals Work
Stock perpetuals function the same way as the crypto perpetuals you already trade on LeveX. The key mechanics:
No Expiry. Positions remain open indefinitely. There are no monthly contract rollovers, no settlement dates, and no delivery obligations.
Funding Rates. A periodic payment between long and short holders keeps the contract price close to the underlying stock or commodity price. When the contract trades above the reference price, longs pay shorts. When below, shorts pay longs.
Margin and Liquidation. Positions require initial margin to open and maintenance margin to keep open. If your margin falls below the maintenance threshold, the position may be liquidated. Stop-loss orders and position sizing are your primary risk management tools.
No Ownership Rights. Stock perpetuals track price only. They do not confer share ownership, voting rights, or dividend payments. They are derivative contracts designed for directional trading, not equity investment.
